Formula: Change % = ((new - old) / old) * 100
Calculate the percentage increase or decrease from an original value to a new value. This is used for stock price changes, weight loss tracking, price inflation, and any comparison of before-and-after values.
Change % = ((New Value − Original Value) ÷ Original Value) × 100. If the result is positive, that is the percentage increase. Negative results indicate a decrease. Absolute change shows the raw difference.
Original 120, new 150: absolute change = +30, percentage change = +25%. Original 200, new 160: absolute change = −40, percentage change = −20%.
A negative percentage change means a decrease. Original 100 dropping to 80 is a −20% change. The calculator shows both the absolute and percentage changes so you can see both the raw and relative shifts.
If the original value is zero or very small, percentage change can be misleading or undefined. Going from 0 to 10 is technically an infinite percentage increase. Interpret such cases with context rather than the raw percentage.
