Formula: Average = (n1 + n2 + n3 + n4) / 4
Calculate the arithmetic mean of up to four numbers. This is the most common type of average — the sum of all values divided by the count. Useful for grades, measurements, ratings, and any set of numbers you need to summarize.
Average = (a + b + c + d) ÷ 4. Enter any four numbers; the calculator sums them and divides by 4. If you enter fewer than four values, leave the rest as zero or enter the same value multiple times.
Scores of 85, 90, 78, and 92: sum = 345, average = 345 ÷ 4 = 86.25.
Use this average for test scores, product ratings, temperature readings, or any data where all values contribute equally. The mean is sensitive to outliers — one very high or low number can shift the result significantly.
If you only have 2 or 3 values, enter 0 for the remaining inputs or duplicate an existing value. The calculator always divides by 4, so be intentional about how you handle empty slots.
